I have an American Harvest Snackmaster that has done well for over 15 years. I've had to add on a few trays over the years but it's still going strong. I like that I can adjust the temperature for the different types of foods (meats, veggies/fruits, herbs).
My DIL has a large dehydrator like an Excalibur, but it's a different brand. She dries large quantities of jerky at a time and it's pretty reliable so far.
The one thing I'd like to say is to be sure to get one with a fan that blows the warm air around the foods. My parents had a Ronco (didn't have a fan) and it took up to 3 days to dry banana slices. My American Harvest (has a fan) can make banana slices in 8 to 10 hours, depending on how thick I sliced them.
