DIY soaps and shampoos....

My daughter and I want to make our own stuff, I have seen recipes on pinterest and online but want to try one that is recommended by a person who has actually made and used it before...

Anyone have recipes they want to share?

Considering that skin is the largest organ we have and it sucks up so much, it makes sense to me that overloading it with lotions, chemicals yada yada would probably have consequences. My daughter has very dry skin and normals products just leach everything out of her, she ends up itchy, dry.

Thanks!

I make these lotion bars and use them as deodorant, lip balm, and lotion.

I'm not much help with soap other than I only use it on face, armpits, and groin areas unless I'm really dirty from working in the garden.  I've tried "natural" soaps and they still dry my skin, so I let my natural body oils do their job.

For shampoo, have you tried "no 'poo"?

No poo? As in not using any? Our hair gets pretty darned greasy...ugh.

We bought some natural soaps from a farmers market out here and they seem to be helping my daughter.

I make everything at home. I use castile soap as a base.
