Right now I shop about 3x a month, but I'm really interested in shopping once a month! Does anybody here do that successfully? Any tips?

I do most of my shopping once a month. I still have to go for basics at least one or two more times a moth, but its a fast stop cuz it like milk, bread or eggs.

That's pretty much what I do too.

Can I ask how big your families are and how much you typically buy?

I think I just need to plan better. I need a set in stoner menu plan. How's this for a kicker- I never actually make a shopping list! I think that's my biggest downfall. I buy everything that's on sale and then forget everything to make complete meals. I have a ton of food right now but I'd be hard pressed to make a complete meal without running to the store! Grrr I gotta get this figured out!

I go about every week or at least every other. I shop the weekly sales and like looking for markdowns. So I do 3/4 trips a month normally.
"Big" shopping trips twice a month. I do get my DF to stop for milk, bread, eggs, fresh fruits and veggies throughout the month. I make a menu for dinners at the very least. I make a list and try to stick to it. I have a family of 5 and they are always hungry so 3 meals plus 3 snacks per day. I spend between $400-$500 a month. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

I think that's very reasonable for a family of 5. I'm going to try to sit down and make a menu plan today!
My family is 5. Plus 3 for lunch during the week. I try to buy most my meat, veggies, pasta, canned goods at one time. For example I did my shopping yesterday. I bought my meat, pasta, bread, butter, potatoes spending around 300. I stocked up on canned goods last month so we are still pretty good still. I got a bunch of pasta cuz. It was $1 a box.
