Some of you know that I make my own laundry detergent and LOVE it. Amy has requested that I post my "recipe" ...so here it is.
I make mine in a BIG batch. It lasts me about 6 to 8 weeks...
3 bars of grated White Zote soap. (you can use Fels Naptha or even Ivory... but the Zote soap is a bigger bar and I find it is easier to grate.)
1 16oz conatiner of Oxi Clean ( I use the dollar store brand)
4 cups of baking soda
6 to 8 cups of Arm & Hammer washing soda. ( I usually use almost the whole box... but sometimes I am running a little low..and it seems to work the same)
2 cups of Borax.
I split my batch into 2 jars... one for DD & I and one for DHs work clothes... for the work clothes batch I add a little more Borax.
Then I use about a half cup of white vinegar in a Downy ball in place of fabric softener.
My clothes come out clean, they smell clean without the over powering smell of some laundry detergents... and its so much cheaper. Plus... I find that my towels are much more absorbant than when I was using premade detergent.
I use roughly 2 tbsp per load....
