I tried to find this on their website...it's Real Simple Family...but alas, could not. So I give them credit and am passing on the instructions. I've done it at least 5 times and it ALWAYS works!!! Some kind of mathematical stuff I really don't care about....lol!
You need: The facecards from a deck of cards. K, Q, J, A.
Place the kings in a row and say, "All the daddies decided to take their families on a vacation and checked into a hotel. Their wives(the queens) came. And they brought their sons (the jacks)."
Now, place the queens on top of the kings, matching the suits. Follow with the jacks.
Now say, "Before they went to bed, they locked their doors." Place the aces on top of the jacks, again matching the suits. (These are the "locks".)
Here's where the *magic* starts happening. Say, "But in the middle of the night, they all got mixed up." Put all of the stacks of cards together, one on top of the other. Turn the deck facedown and ask your child to cut it THREE times, being sure to put the deck back together after each cut.
Now say, "But, somehow, come morning, all of the daddies were in the same room, and so were the mommies and the sons. And the locks were still in place!" Starting from the top of the pile, lay the cards out in four stacks facedown, putting one card in each stack until you're out of cards.
Turn the piles over: All the kings will be together, and so will all the queens, jacks, and aces!
Well, go get your cards, AND DO IT! See if it doesn't work! It does! Don't just say, "Hey, might try this..."....LOL! ![]()
