baked spaghetti braidHere's an easy family dinner no one will be able to resist -- Baked Spaghetti Braid. It's basically traditional spaghetti with red sauce and lots of cheese, but instead of serving it with bread, you actually bake the spaghetti inside the bread.

The recipe is from Her View From Home, and it's incredibly easy, especially if you use pre-made pizza dough for the crust. It doesn't call for any meat as is, but if you have a bunch of carnivores like I do, adding some sausage or pepperoni to the sauce can kick it up a notch. Bonus: You can also make it ahead of time and freeze, then just defrost and pop in the oven when you're in need of a quick dinner.

Baked Spaghetti Braid

1 loaf of dough, (you can make your own or purchase frozen pizza dough)
1 box of whole wheat spaghetti, cooked
1 jar of your favorite marina sauce
8 oz mozzarella
Parmesan cheese (optional)
Garlic Powder
Parsley Flakes

Preheat oven to 350F.

Combine the spaghetti and sauce in a bowl and place in the center of the dough in about a 3-5 inch strip.

Sprinkle on mozarella cheese.

Make cuts 1 1/2 inches apart on the long sides of dough, up to the spaghetti filing or leaving about 1/2 inch.

Begin braiding the strips, right over left, covering the filling.

Mix together Parmesan, parsley, and garlic (use as much as you like for your taste).

Sprinkle the parsley mixture over the braid.

Transfer the braid on the parchment paper to your baking sheet.Bake for about 35 minutes or until the top is a browned as you like it.

Cool for about 5-10 minutes, slice and enjoy.
