The domestic cat is the only species able to hold its tail vertically while walking. Wild cats hold their tail horizontally, or tucked between their legs while walking.

maybe because they're much smaller than wild cats? or they're not worried about some other wild thing catching their tail?  interesting

I didn't know that. My cat usually holds his tail vertical while walking. He's very expressive with his tail, and it is quite amusing.
