Hone ring at all and no missed calls) I told her she had not called and she could check the phone if she wanted. She asked why I would kick the girl in the face. So I proceeded to explain to her what happened, and she said that. When the mom asked the girl what happened that she just said I kicked her in the face and she didn't know why and since I wasn't answering my phone I did it on purpose and didn't want to talk about it. I told her that was not true, it was an accident and I didn't know it was going to swell or anything or I would have told her mom, I guess I should have anyway but honestly I didn't think about it when her mom came. (we had just got done at church and I was getting all their stuff together and such and it honestly slipped my mind) So I guess I'm out of a job for a misunderstanding. Is not like I made much I only got 20$/day for all 3 kids but I count on that money. :(
Dont beat yourself up over what you
Can't hange now.
I agree. Don't let it get you down. There are tons of other kids out there that would love to have a fun babysitter.

Bummer, I hate misunderstandings. I do know though that as a parent I'd probably have liked a call letting me know it happened. Always better to hear it from the sitter then the child. Hopefully the mom can be understanding that accidents happen.

Yeah, I would definitely have let her mom know for something like that... specifically because of how the child responded to her mother. I have 12 years of childcare experience, and if there is anything I have learned from it, it's that kids are not so great at explaining things to their parents! Either they don't give enough information (like in this case) or they totally overexaggerate (and sometimes add things that are not even true!).
I am sorry that they are not working it through with you. I would try calling the mother directly and maybe see if she would agree to a meeting with you and her daughter. Maybe her daughter would be willing to tell the entire story if you all say down to talk about it together?
In the future, I would recommend creating some sort of "incident report" type sheet to use in case of any accidents. They use them for legal reasons at official daycare centers and childcare programs. For you, it would be a good way to remind yourself to tell the parent at the end of the day. Write down the time of the incident, what happened, what injuries were sustained, and what you did to address the injuries. If you can make a copy for yourself to keep, just in case, that would be good (or use carbon-copy paper so you can keep a copy). You just don't want some parent to come back and sue you or something... there are a lot of sue-happy people out there, so you have to protect yourself.
Good luck, mama! I am so sorry to hear this misunderstanding has potenially caused the loss of a client... :-/
