We bought Baby Boy's car seat!

I've got it registered in case of a recall, and already read through the manual even though we already have one MyRide, lol.

And with a rigid model, lol

Baby Boy will be cuddled in this, so that makes me happy! lol.

I'm planning on switching the big kids to the way back when I hit about 36-37 weeks, and then installing Baby Boy's seat at 37 or 38 weeks. If I for some reason transfer to the hospital, it's going to be funny. I won't be bringing the set up, haha. It's a convertible and I get to tell them it was installed by a CPST... myself! teehee.

It's getting so close to baby time... I'm 35w 4days today... crazy!

I have one of those mirrors too, even though they are frowned upon.

Quoting DirtyHippyMama:

I can usually see Myles since we put a mirrow up in the back (he is rf). No other advice lol, Myles doesn't mess with his clip (knock on wood) but I don't know he could undo it if he tried, it is pretty good

Quoting TristanMitchael:

I usually rf passed 2 but since I can't see if she has unbuckled the straps I turned her around to keep a eye on her.

Quoting ForeverInLove:

Ahh, ok. I prefer to keep rearfacing... but that is me. In a rear facing seat, a properly installed and harnessed seat is 71% effective in preventing serious injury or death. When you turn them forward facing, it drops to just 54% effective. Go to a booster, and that number is much lower.

The chest clip is actually a retaining clip. It's meant to keep the straps on the shoulders, over the some of the strongest part of the body (collar bones) to help reduce major injury. Even our seat belt should go over our collar bone. When it's anywhere else, it can cause major injury...

Quoting TristanMitchael:

I wonder if a new clip would make it a little more difficult. It doesn't seem like it's loose she just figured it out. I turned her ff so I can be more aware of when she does it.

Whoa that does look comfy! I got Adelyn a myride when she was about 4 months old, Shes almost 22 months now and can unbuckle the top strap :/

Just be firm. Whenever you can see if she's undone it, stop and redo it and tell her no. Be firm. She will begin to leave it alone. Is she still rearfacing? Melanie will be 20 months on the 28th and shows no interest in undoing it.

If you feel that the clip feels loose to undo, call Graco (you'll need your car seat model and serial number), and bring up. Tell them that she is undoing the clip and you'd like to know your options. Be nice. Niceness gets you somewhere, lol. Graco sent me a new clip when Hunter was doing it, incase it was a loose clip. He did learn to stop doing it. I had him forward facing though.... so when I saw he undid it, I would get on my breaks and pull over immediately and honestly, I yelled at him. It was, "Hunter! You cannot touch that! It's not safe! You have to stay buckled!" I'd buckle it up back up, and stop again if he undid it again. Now, he's five and he tells me if his crotch buckle didn't clip or if sissy's clip isn't done for some reason. She's rear facing.

Even the soft ones? Ours isn't glass, and has a padded edge.

Yep. I have the soft edged one too. They are frowned upon because they can detach from the seat in an accident and become a projectile. While we think it's ok because it has a soft edge, they can still do some serious harm.

Example of something that seems fairly harmless. My instructor came upon the scene of an accident. Single car accident, single passenger. All windows were intact, no breaks, cracks, or missing glass. This guy had a gash in his head... like something cut him open. They found an empty kleenex box that was in the back seat with his hair embedded in the corner. It flew up and hit him, cutting open his head.

UHG :) Not cool. Now wondering what I should do. I know I was nervous seeing how much stuff was in the mini-van of the girl who has been watching Myles one day a week. She had me put in his seat so they could go to the splash park.

When it comes down to it, it's the parents ultimate choice as to how they want to do things. I can only educate.

But, anything in your vehicle that is not securely tied down is considered a projectile. Even groceries in the back are a projectile...

I could really take our mirror down since it never faces her anymore though. I accidently cracked it a while back ago, lol. But, it doesn't sit right on the headrest, so it only looks at her some of the time. The rest of the time, she's looking at herself.
