Let's say it's a day trip.   Where all do you go? Sounds fun?

For day trips we just pack a few juice boxes and some goldfish.

For longer trips we packed lots of goldfish, water, juice boxes, pretzels, crackers, dry fruit, etc.

We travel from San Diego where we live all over. We have went to Texas, Illinois, Ohio, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, Tennessee and everywhere in between.

For a day travel, pack a picnic lunch. Fruit leathers, fresh fruits that wouldn't make much trash like banana peels, nuts, jerky, crackers, nut butters, maybe some pita chips, bagel chips, kettle chips, carrots, celery, sugar snap peas, and cherry tomatoes all travel well. I always take a full case of water because you never know what could happen, whether a breakdown, mess, meltdown, etc.

You just have to be cautious when crossing some state lines with fresh fruits/veggies. Arizona for example will take them from you sometimes. Assholes.

we don't really do road trips but the few times we do go to the mountain or beach we don't pack snacks.
