tea would work also. 

We used to dye bone and things in coffee and tea when I was younger for chockers and stuff mom made and sold.

 thanks for sharing. I bought a bunch of egg dying kits last year after Easter for like 25 cents a piece.

my eggs are brown when I buy them. lol My grandmother used to tie onion skins to the eggs and boil them. Then she would shine them with olive oil. They look like marble.
