I'm Traci, mom of two.  We have become health freaks and I'm always looking for veggyful food recipes for them.  When you don't start them out healthy it's hard to get them on board.  At 5 and 11 years old they are noticing how the bad food makes them feel but still, it's hard for them to resist.

Nice to be here!

Free from depression, anxiety, and 55 extra pounds!  I took my health back!

My son is 11 years old and he is overweight. During the school year he gets a fair amount of excercise, but with the summer months being so hot he hates to go outside and get some good excercise. I myself and his dad will take him for walks with the dog but not often enough to make a difference. I encourage him to get outside every chance he gets to play with his dog and with his cousins. His cousins have a trampoline and he is encouraged to go out and jump with them when we are there. He swims periodically, but again nothing to make a difference. We do not have enough money to join a health club, so that is out. He is very aware of what foods are good for him and what is not. We will  only give him 1 helping (e.g. 4 chicken nuggets, not 8) at a meal. His best friend is over and he is a good influence as far as getting Jesse to get up and move around.

I need some solid ideas about how much excercise he should get and good food choices to help me with his diet. The only vegetable he likes is carrots and now that he has braces he tries to tell me he cannot eat them.

I tried putting frozen vegies in his soup but he won't eat those.

HELP!!
