How old was your daughter for her first appointment with a gynecologist?

If she's still too young - what age do you ANTICIPATE you'll make a first appointment?

My daughter is only 8 now.

I don't even remember when I went - maybe it was 18?
I guess it will depend on her and if she's (god forbid) sexually active.

I'm cringing right now even THINKING about that. lol

I don't want to think about that.

Do I have to?

I think 18 is sufficient, unless she becomes sexually active before then or if she is having any problems with heavy periods or more pain than a person should have for being a girl.

I was 19 when I first went.  I really went to get a prescription for The Pill so I could sex it up with my husband...who was then my fiance.

I'm curious to see the answers here.

I think I went when I was 16 for a first papsmear. Let's not forget that the gyn is not just for the pill or sexual issues.  Paps are part of cancer screening.........

I will ask my family Dr. what she thinks and do what she suggests.  Better safe than sorry.  :0)

I would say around 16 is good.

They haven't had one yet.  My teen will probably have one in another year or two.

We have a family doctor, so no need for a gynecologist. When I asked her about this, she said sixteen for first pap smear, or if there is a problem or if she becomes sexually active.
