What You Can Chew on to Protect Your Skin And Your Teeth
Okay, so we aren't going to get a sunburn on our teeth, but did you know what you chew on with those teeth can actually help to prevent burns from happening? I know, I didn't either! But when you eat foods rich in antioxidants, you boost your ability to combat oxidation in your skin. Oxidation is caused by the sun...and we don't want to have it going on.
Not only are antioxidant-rich foods great, natural ways to get sunscreen going from the inside out, but they also help strengthen your teeth and produce much-needed saliva flowing, that helps decrease the acidity in your mouth - a huge way to prevent decay. Eating these double-duty foods are a great habit for the whole family.
So, what are some antioxidant-rich foods you can serve up? Check out beans (especially red beans), blueberries, orange and red peppers, and grapes. Also, why not introduce pomegranate juice to everyone? Here's a yummy recipe to try for Pom-Ade...as always brush after!
1 cup lemonade
1/2 cup club soda
1/4 cup pomegranate juice
Mix lemonade, soda, and pomegranate juice in a small pitcher. Fill 2 tall glasses with ice. Pour lemonade mixture over.
