Anyone doing anything exciting for Father's Day?
We don't usually do anything special either. That's why when I planned vacation for the kids and I it wasn't a big deal that it was over Father's day. DH got to go fishing with DS yesterday and then he'll hang out while we are gone and enjoy the quiet. LOL

We usually do whatever my husband wants to do, it's just that this weekend he's on call. He can't be more than an hour away from the shop so we have to stick around. If the weather is crappy he might want to go walk around Academy or something. If that's the case then we'll have lunch out somewhere.
Why doesn't your DH go on vacation with you?

Dh can't make it this time because of work issues. We would usually fly and only be gone 5 or 6 days, but it is WAY too expensive right now to fly so we decided to rent a car, but that means we are gone for 9 days and he is so busy with work he can't be gone that long. We were going to put the trip off so he could come, but my brother & his family may be getting sent off to Japan with the Navy in a few weeks so it doesn't make sense to put the trip off. We're bummed he can't go, but it is what it is.

I understand. Some men just don't like vacation though, and that's why I asked. I have a friend whose dad never ever went on vacation with them. They owned and operated a small cattle farm and he didn't want to leave for a week (or a weekend even) because there would be too much work when he got back. Luckily the mom had a whole flock of sisters and they would all go on vacation together with their kids and the husbands all stayed behind. I went a few times. It was fun.

I don't do anything for father's day. DS is going to his father's this weekend just because it's his weekend. I don't ever get him anything from DS. It's probably not right but we just don't have that kind of relationship between the two of us. DS goes to the store with my mom to buy me a mother's day card and if my ex's mother would like to take DS to the store for father's day then she can but I'm not. I don't feel he deserves any recognition for doing the minimum the court has ordered as a parent. He's allowed to call anytime to talk to DS and he calls once a week for 5min. He's allowed to come see DS on his birthday and on holidays and he doesn't because he doesn't want to take time off work. He won't pay for anything extra and hides from child support enforcement. He's just not a good father IMO so I'm not spending the little money I have on a card for him from DS. I realize that sounds bad but it's just the way it is. We don't get along and are civil in front of DS because we have to be.
dh is going fishing on the boats and we are heading to the beach then meeting up for a cook out
