My 4yr old daughter is allergic to blue dye. So she can't have any food that is blue. (Green & purple things sold in stores, which have small traces of blue is ok, but just blue makes her break out. Frosting and things mixed at home to make purple or green would also make her break out). I've never had any problems being able to find food for her to eat or anything so it's never been a big deal until the other day. We went to this little girls birthday party and EVERYTHING there was to eat there had blue - blue spaghetti, rainbow cookies, blue frosted cupcakes, etc. So my little girl just couldn't eat anything. I obviously wasn't offended or anything, but it made me think more about the allergy. We are going to another birthday party tomorrow evening & I am debating rather or not it would be rude to call up the mom & ask about what color treats they are going to have. If the cupcakes & cookies are blue, I'll just bring some that aren't.
Do you think it'd be rude to do that? Should I just bring non-blue treats without checking first & keep them in my purse in case we do need them? I don't want to make that mom feel like she has to change everything if she already has it planned out.
Thanks for the advice ladies! :)
