Good luck!  I had a lot of fun making food for my first and can't wait to do it for my second.  I never used a cookbook.  I would just steam veggies put them in the Magic Bullet, which makes the perfect consistency for baby food, and then put them into little containers which I would freeze.  It is very easy. For fruit, I would just cut up the fruit and put it in a little water on the stove.  I would boil it, then blend it up and also freeze.  Save the juice from the veggies and fruit and put it in the blender with the fruit or veggies to get the right consistency.  Then when my LO was eating more different foods, I would just blend up what ever we were eating for dinner and he would eat that.  Sorry I don't have any book suggestions for you!  Can't wait to see what others have used.

With my son, I steamed and pureed veggies, and made him meals in the crock pot that I would mash up and freeze in small portions--chicken, peaches and rice, beef stew with mixed veggies... With my daughter we did baby led solids and she just ate whatever we were eating as finger food in tiny bites. Neither one of them showed any interest in solids until they were almost 10 months old.

You don't need a cookbook.  Buy fresh carrrots or sweet potatoes, boil them, puree in the blender (mash them when they get a few teeth so there is some texture), put them in freezer trays.  Defrost overnight in a bowl in the fridge.  Buy fresh or frozen/canned (no salt added) peas, green beans, pears, peaches etc. and do the same.  Feed your baby leftover mashed potatoes from your dinner.  Fresh bananas pureed witih pear or pineapple juice is good.  Buy a big jar of no sugar added applesauce.

Quit buying so much jarred baby food - you get so much more for your money when you do it yourself!

I usually just did what others said and steamed veggies then pureed them. I'd also cook apples & pears frequently and pureed them. You just need to cook them (I boiled them) enough to get soft.
