It varies based on how many students per grade.  it's about 23 - 28 students per teacher.

We are waiting to see which school my son gets into [we are on a waiting list for one of the best elementary distinguished schools in our state.]  If he gets into that school the ration is 1:24.  If he stays at his preschool - which offers classes through 8th grade - he'll be at a 1:12.  If he goes to a new prepatory school that is opening up it will be 1:30 but with 2 full time aids.

When I was in H.S. I remember there being at least 32 students in my class per teacher.

my daughters 2nd grade class will have 10-11 students, one teacher and an aide..  It's a small school.. normal class size for all grades is 11-12 students..Sometimes they request parent volunteer for special class projects..

This is about average for us too.

I work in a special ed classroom. Our ratio is 1 teacher, 2 assistants to 9 students (max).

That *is* mine...though it will increase to 1:4, because I do have four children. LOL
