Pythons Stolen From Private School
GREENSBURG, Pa. -- Police believe whoever stole two pythons from a private school in Greensburg, Westmoreland County, is keeping them as pets, because nothing else was taken.
Channel 4 Action News' Sheldon Ingram reported that the snakes were stolen from the K.A.R.A.T. School of Learning. No suspects have been identified.School officials believe the pythons were taken sometime during the weekend by someone who pried open a door at the school. One snake is about 3 feet long, and the other is about 1 foot.K.A.R.A.T. stands for Kinetic Approach to Relevant Academic Teaching, and the school uses unconventional methods to reach children who don't easily fit with traditional classroom settings. The environmental science classroom where the animals are kept is part of their hands-on curriculum.Students must learn cost-and-behavioral analysis of animals and develop nurturing skills. Each student is assigned to the care of specific animals.Jacob McHenry was the caretaker of the pythons, and he said it hurt him to see his animal project taken from him.A donor in Pittsburgh will give the school another python to be kept in the same place from which the others were taken.

Can you say ewwww? It is very hard for me to feel any sympathy for a snake. But I shall give it a try. Why would anyone want to steal a snake? Its not like you can just release them into the wild around here. Its too cold. They require warmth. Would you want to snuggle up to one of these?

LOL, that's what I was thinking! I'm guessing they can get some cash for selling them though.
Oh how sad, I don't understand why people steal from schools. Don't the realize how this impact children! I'm glad someone else is donating one.
One of our indoor recreation centers has a snake petting area. I don't like them but they are interesting creatures!

hmmm...yes, they are wandering the halls...yup..look good at the students....someone has a new set of shoes!!!!!!

What a specific theft. I wonder if they were really taken or if they are wandering the halls... If someone did steal the snakes, I'd look at students. Such an odd theft it'd have to be someone who knew they were there.
