Hi. I am a mom, a teacher, and a grad student who is working on a project about English Language Learners (ELLs). Are any of you moms raising bilingual children? Is English their second language? Do your children go to public school? If so, please share you opinions and/or experiences with English language learning in school. I look forward to hearing from you.

LOVE THY NEIGHBOR.
Our children speak English and Mandarin and are now attending a Korean school so they are learning that too. I was an ELL as a young child and back then there were no programs for kids learning English as their second language. Sink or swim. Nowadays, there are more programs to support ELLs and traning for teachers such as use of the SDAIE methods plus curriculum just for ELL kids such as Hampton Brown's Into English. It's a much better school environment for ELLs now than when I was a kid.
