Now let me say Im not a health freak... Im all for candy/cake  for kids at the right time the right amount.. do my kids get candy for Halloween or Valentines day.. Cake for birthays absolutley do they get ice cream yes of course.... but in moderation.

So I know this person who buys her kids basically just junk food.. Corn Dogs, chips, donuts, crackers, gushers, oh they like meat I think grapes is the only thing that was healthy.  She said they dont eat anything else.. because she never buys it for them, she never offers to them you know...  I have never seen them eating an apple, a mango, a banana, a kiwi, cabbage. or a carrot...

darn and I thought my kids are picky

Wow :/ those unhealthy habits are going to make huge challenges for their eating choices as they grow up.

That's really sad.  If she would make her kids try the healthy foods I'm sure they'd like them.

Sure it can be hard to get kids to want to eat healthy, but 1) leading by example is HUGE, 2) conversation can also help, like the Sears book, The Healthiest Kid in the Neighborhood or something like that, it has ideas on how to explain the difference between good and not-so-good stuff, and 3) NOT giving in, hard now but it will make it easier as they grow!

Its sad, but it is a reality of life these days. So many people don't know how to cook, never saw their parents cook, and don't have any desire to try to eat differently. Maybe you can be a positive role model for her??

Wow that's really sad. I can honestly say that my weight related issues are all mine. My mom did provide us with healthy food and food options at home. However, once I got a job I went crazy on the junk food. Also didn't help I was working fast food and got a great deal on my meal purchases.
