My MIL and I were out to lunch today with Brady, and we saw the most beautiful little girl who happened to have Down Syndrome...she was 10 months old and just gorgeous! She had brown eyes and brown hair and just the sweetest little face! She and her mom were sitting in a booth near us at the restaurant, and I told the mom that she had a beautiful little girl...that she was just gorgeous with her sweet little face! I told her that the little girl's sweet eyes made my heart melt, that she was just precious! The mom then said to me, "Well, she has Down Syndrome, can't you tell?" I replied with, "That's what makes her so beautiful in my opinion!"
The mom just seemed to be burdened by the fact that her daughter had Down Syndrome. She mentioned that her other 2 children were 17 & 13 and they were perfectly healthy.
My heart was very sad after hearing this...that mom didn't realize what a blessing she had in her daughter...she was just burdened instead:(
That is a very sad story, she may still be in a phase tho. It took me awhile to get outta my funk after i had my daughter with downs. She was a surprise special needs baby, and i was so young... but Man one day she will see how lucky she is to have been blessed with such unconditional love and happiness!
I was shocked to be honest. It seemed like she was telling me that her daughter couldn't be all those things I said b/c she has DS...it was strange, and I felt very sorry for the little girl. She was SO precious and sweet...she looked me at with her pretty eyes the entire time:)

Wow!!! Thats a shame for a parent to say that. It really does break my heart to know she feels that way.
That's a good point mama:) She was probably in her early 40s, and since she had 2 older children, this may have been a big surprise for her too.

I wanted to reach out to her more, but just didn't for whatever reason....I could tell she was just feeling out of place with a SN child:(

That is so sad. For the mom and the baby girl. They must be having a really rough time. I wonder if she has any support- or friends with SN kids... :( breaks my heart
Its a VERY HUGE shock... i was barely 17 and i didnt even know what it was, and with all the other complications that can happen just really wears you down emotionally.. and physically. If you ever see her again, just remind her that she's a very special lady to have been chosen to do such a God given job! It takes a special heart to do what we do! Prayers for her and Props for at least trying!

Thanks:) I've never come across a SN mom that had that kind of approach/attitude so I didn't really know what to say to be honest.
