Hi everyone. My husband an I are pursuing adoption of a special needs baby. She is classified (I dont like that phrase!!) as developmentally delayed and "may" have mild-moderate cerebral palsy, butthey wont know for sure til she's 2 years of age, she's 7 months now and on a 3-4 month level. My question is, have any of you adopted a special needs baby/child with cerebral palsy? Can someone please explain whats its like to parent a baby and watch them grow up that has cerebral palsy?

Thank you!!

Amanda

Hi , We have a house full of special kids our oldest is 8, he has a rare  condition called klinefelders or 47xyy syndrom, due to this he also has autism and is Moderately MR (or delayed). Next we have a set of twins who are 6 (girl/boy) My daughter is autistic & her brother has aspergers syndrome. Let me just say for anyone wondering we got pregnant with our twins when our oldest was 14 months old so we had no idea there were any issues or delays, that said We had our youngest who is 20 months after I had had my tubes tied 5 years later! (just so that you know it is not always 100% lol such is life) I just had the baby evaluated by our local early intervention team & so far she is delayed for sure so sigh...  more to do.

We are a very busy family and most days I only get to talk to kids who are not the best communicators lol So I would love to visit with other adult mom's who understand more of what we are going through. Specifically if there are any mothers at all out there who have kiddo's with  Autism or 47xyy I would love to pick your mind about things that have helped your family. I would love to help others with the 8 years of experience I have as well, and if any of the group users are local & want play dates with out worrying about others looking at you like you have two heads when your kids have melt downs I would be in! It gets lonely staying home all the time.

So excited to get to know everyone!
