Doctors orders to do a miralax clean out on my son. 7 1/2 capfuls in 32 oz Friday, and then Saturday. The next day 2 ex lax tabs. He has been on miralx for a little over 2 months, except for when we were in vacation and then he had a stomach bug for over a week. Kind f freaked out by this clean out. My son has PDD-nos, he will be 6 in July, he can talk but mpnot conversational so he does not tell me when he not feeling well, and he is not potty trained. We have had 2 X-rays done since March, another one is scheduled after the clean out. Other alternate was enemas....I did not think that would go well, and cause issues during future diaper changes or potty training.
Any one been through this or have done the clean out?

That sounds like a lot. Especially because ex-lax is a stimulant laxative.
I would get a second opinion or at least research it further ( like you're doing now but google also)

I found other sites with simalar info. The doctor that we see is fromChildrens Hospital Boston developmental Medicine Centers Incontinance Program. We have not beem toa gi doctor in about a year, but maybe it's time for an appt. I would think Children's Hospital would know more then our ped... But maybe. Should call her too

We have done Miralax clean outs as well as Magnesium Citrate. DS has a Neurogenic bladder and bowel and major motility problems so he requires massive amounts of laxatives so for us what you are describing is not a lot. My son takes 6 daily laxatives along with a nightly suppository everyday and we still cannot get to him stool everyday. Our Drs have mentioned surgical options and we see GI frequently. Maybe another trip to the GI is in order if you don't feel comfortable?

Well it seems like a HUGE dosage to me. But then again all people are different. Personally I would get a second opinion.
My son recently started a miralax cleanse. For two days it was two capfuls of miralax mixed in whatever and half of a mineral oil enema per day. Then on the 3rd day for the rest of the month it is 3/4 capful of miralax mixed in whatever and half of an exlax. Then we go in for a follow up.
This was the prescription given by our pediatrician GI specialist and my son is 5 yo.
