Crazy two weeks... but we're getting through it
Two weeks ago DH was taken back to the hospital with chest pains, weakness and dizziness. He ended up being admitted and we stayed there for about 4 days (can't wait to see that bill). The good news is that his heart appears healthy. His stress tests, EKGs, imaging and xrays all came back normal. The bad news is that we have no idea what is causing it. He's better now, the pain doesn't come as often. When it does hit, it weakens him quite a bit, so he's running out of oomph a lot faster than normal. I have an idea it is stress/anxiety related, although I'm no doctor. I'm sure it's going to be okay but it was - and still is - pretty scary.
In the middle of all of this, we had two important doctors' appointments. Emily had her first appointment with the child psychiatrist. He does not believe that she is bipolar but agrees that she definately has an anxiety and a mood disorder. He was very supportive of our homeschooling her - which is a relief - and has put her on Abilify in addition to the Zolofte. . It's definately mellowing her out, but is not creating a zombie. This has been a really good thing. She's even decided to go back to dance and piano next year!
Lindsay had an appointment the next day with a pediatrician. Her regular dr was out of town, so we saw another dr. I told him I wanted her off the Prozac and he agreed to cut it in half to begin with. We saw her regular dr this week and she took her off it completely. So now she's only on Dicyclomine for her stomach pains. :) The only problem is that she believes the stomach pain is due to depression or anxiety, even though the dr from the Children's Hospital told us he believes it to be abdominal spasms. Lindsay's also being referred to the child psychiatrist. I'm actually relieved at this because I think he will listen when I tell him what we believe is going on (He's also supportive of the homeschooling, whereas her pediatrician is not). I like her pediatrician a lot but she's in over her head with Linds and because of that has kind of a one-track mind right now. :|
So, good, bad, rough.. that's been our month thus far. But it's Summer. The weather's warm. We're building a "fairy garden" for the girls. And life just goes on...
