Typically enemas should produce a decent bowel movement within a few hours, so if he hasn't had a good one by today I would call his GI doctor. Blockages aren't something to mess with, and you know that! You've been through SO much with his little belly...I'm sorry!
How is it going Chelle? They too said for my son to have an enema evrey day but Gi doc is fine every 2 to 3 days--he does not go #2 unless he gets an enema--usually it works within the first couple hours --we have gone a day before it did not work and gave him another one and gave it to him--
My DD is 21, and gets an Enema every 72 hours. If we give it sooner they do NOT work. I find giving her Miralax about 2 hours before works wonders. Truly has been getting her to go, and have a complete clean out. My daughter used to "give birth" when she was younger. She has dysmotility and "holding issues" from the pain of having huge hard stools.holding her stool where it would "grow" into a rock and would be so huge big she would bleed and cry and the enemas took up to an hour to work, sometime didnt at all. The "holding issues" really became a problem, she was afraid to go/ Has the GI suggested miralax? I have tried every thing under the sun, for 21 years. It works the best, because it doesnt cause her to explode and have sludge moving around the mass of stool. Also she has become not afraid to go anymore, so the "holding issue" has gone away, making the enema and miralax to work. The painful and hemorrhoids are gone.
They say my son has dysmotility and yeah, he is actually on 3 caps or miralax, 2oz mineral oil, and 10ml senna daily and we still have these issues =( and he is only 4
