Haven't been around much but wanted to share
because I knew you would appreciate it.
Back in March, Emily (then 8), spent a night in the ER because she wanted to kill herself. The anxiety and the drama and stress of school and life was just too much. She quit everything she loved and withdrew as much as possible. She was in counseling 3x a week, put on medication for a general anxiety disorder (possibly bipolar) and we pulled her from public school and began homeschooling.
This week, she took a huge step: she auditioned for a community play. She had to stand on stage by herself and sing acapella. She read lines with adults. And she loved every minute of it, even going back for a second day. I don't know if she'll get a part or not, but she did amazing. I'm so proud of her for taking the risk and putting herself out there.
