My SD has just been prescriped Concerta for ADHD. She was just recently diagnosed. Do any of you have experience with this drug? Side effects? Good/Bad experiences?

Thank you in advance.

This is one of the ones that my son hasn't tried. Meds and kids are so different. We can tell you what happened with our kids, but it is not necessarly what is going to happen with yours. I would try it and see what you think.

My son tried this medication last August. We barely made it a week because he was very emotional while on it. He'd cry and cry for no reason and was inconsolable. But that's just our experience. Your child may do great on it! Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

My son takes it only during school days and on the weekends we just deal with it.

My 6 yo son took this for about a month until he decided he couldn't swallow it anymore.  He did great on it in school, he was able to focus all day, but would come down (for lack of a better word) about the time school let out and would be emotional and grumpy the rest of the night.  It also took away his appetite.  We put him back on Ritalin and sent a bottle to school.  He does better chewing the pills and the wearing off isn't as bad.
