HAVING A KID(S) WITH SPECIAL NEEDS DOESNT MEAN THEY SHOULDNT HAVE FRIENDS OR TREATED ANY DIFFERENT THAN THE REST. I HAVE 2 BOYS THAT ARE SPEECH DELAYED, WHICH MAKES IT HARD FOR THEM TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHER KIDS AND I WANT THEM TO HAVE FRIENDS. EXPOSING THEM TO NEW PEOPLE ACTUALLY HELPS THEM TO OPEN UP MORE.  REGUARDLESS OF YOUR KIDS SITUATION THEY ARE STILL A KID AND IM HERE IF YOU WANT PLAYDATES, ADVISE OR JUST SOMEONE TO CHAT WITH :) I AM IN CALIFORNIA BUT WHOEVER WANTS TO CHAT, LETS CHAT..........

My grandson did not talk, and he wanted to play with other kids.  We took him to the macdonald play areas when it was not very busy.  He would wander around looking and watching the couple of kids.  Pretty soon, girls older than him would come to him and ask him if he wanted to play, and so he would go with them and they would take him around and push him thru the tubes.  He would get so excited.  They were playing house with him usually.  He loved it.  The other kids did not care if he could not talk.  My daughter did explain to them that he did not, so they asked him yes and no questions and were very nice to him.  We always had good experiences with this.  Boys would do this too.  Just go when it is not busy, otherwise kids get very rough.
