They are going to test him for LD!!!! I didn't have to say anything they said he needed it. He has not made any progress on his reading fluency or reading nonsense words since the middle of first grade and then that was only a slight improvement from Kindergarten. He is supposed to be reading 45-55 words per minute and he is reading 16. So, they are concerned. Plus, they are implementing an ADHD intervention to help with inattention and focus. They changed his reading interventions around and he will get a daily "emotional monitoring program" too and will go to his 1st grade teacher (who was amazing with him) everyday to talk about how he is feeling because I think he will do better with her than with the counselor. All in all it was a successful meeting and 60 days from now I will know what if any special education he will recieve and we will go from there!

That's great! Congratulations! :-D

Just my 2ยข but the two things he needs are an IEP and BIP (behavioral intervention program) because this is what will help him succeed in school. Plus, an IEP is a legal document and schools are required to follow them.

Oh - when they tell you he's doing a great job regulating his emotions do not hesitate to ask them what they do and/or say to him so you can do the same at home.

I am glad that they are testing him, and they will help you get services. Or atleast our school did.
