Apprehension towards school

My son, Carmello has attended the same school for the last 3 years. Our routine has not changed but this year I cannot seem to get him to walk with me into school unless grandma is there. Everytime I try on my own he has a meltdown. I've tried all of my redirects, giving breaks and asked grandma for assistance but all my support is gone. How can I get him to cooperate with me?

I'm not sure momma, I don't have any experience with this. I'm sorry you're having to deal with it though :( I hope you find a solution.

Is he verbal?  Can you talk with him about why he doesn't want to go?

The only thing I know to suggest is trying to establish a new or different routine where you explain it to him ahead of time--exactly what is going to occur--maybe make a game out of it, and then see how it goes.

You definitely have a tricky situation--my main concern would be why he has started not wanting to go.  Let us know if you find something that works.  Hugs!
