Has anyone here gone throught one? My Hubs wants to adopt my son the BF has not seen or spoken to him in 10 years. Recently the state went after BF for child support since we were both laid off for a bit and the BF current wife I am guessing found out he has another kid (my son) and kicked him to the curb and is now threanting to try for visitation with my son. My son wants nothing to do with him my Hubs is all he has ever known and my son's best friend. Is it hard to prove abandonment? I need to know, I don't want to force my son to see a virtual stranger that has been in and out of jail and on drugs.

I would consult an attorney and find out what the statues in your state are.

Good luck!

I agree, an attorney can give you the best information about abandonment statutes in your state. Welcome and good luck!

I have no advice other than consult an attorney.

Good luck!
