I took Derek with me to school after his appointment, and you would not believe the number of teachers who either asked if this is my grandson or asked him if he had come to visit grandma! We are a close knit faculty and they all know we adopted them. I casually corrected them, and to the ones I reminded that we had adopted the boys, every one of them said they knew and continued with the grand business. One of the new teachers actually argued with me over it-she asked if he was my grandson, and I said no, this is my son Derek. She said, "Oh he's your grandson." and I told her again no, he is my son. What's up with that?
