My husband & i have been trying to have a baby for 3 years now. We are wanting to adopt now. I really am anxious about doing so. I need some advice as to where to go & how to start the process. Any info or advice would be helpful!

I am brand new on CM but not to adopting! First step for me was to research online what kind of adoption I was interested in. There is international adoptions and state adoptions. We decided on adopting kids in need in our state. So our next step was to call the county and get signed up for information class and then onto adoption classes. Started that in July and January 23rd we had 2 little kiddos in our home!! That was almost 10 yrs ago!

I agree research what kind of adoption is best.
We chose going through the state.
And exactly 4 years ago today we got our first placement
and were eventually able to adopt our son.

It is true that most very young children who are adopted through foster care remain with their foster family... And that is really the best scenario for the child, not to have multiple moves so early in life. I'm assuming that's why you say there are no children under 2?

Have you considered fostering at all? There are no guarantees of course, but it can be a really great way to help families in crisis and get some practical parenting experience while you are waiting for YOUR child to come home. You may not be able to adopt for 18 months, but the child is still a member of your family the whole time you are fostering him/her.

Anyway, I am just assuming from what you've shared that you're getting licensed by your state to adopt from foster care. Maybe you can let us know a little more about what you've done so far and where you're hoping to go next, so we can give advice that's more helpful?

We have adopted twice. Both domestic transracial newborns. We started researching home study agencies and during that process researched agencies. Both were very quick matches and placements.

Going to use state. Can  you message me. How are you doing it? We are anxious. I'm tired of waiting.

We have already taken the path classes for foster parenting because my mom is a foster parent. I am wanting to just adopt. I can't take having a child come in my home & then leave. It would break my heart into a million pieces. I'm just trying to figure out my options. We have looked into having someone carry a baby for us as well but adopting is more affordable. I don't want to spend all my money on adopting cause i want to have that money for my children. It is important that they have the best. So i am wanting like a single mother, etc.
