Do you have parties or just have family time?
We had parties for Lilly for her 2nd ( first one home), her 4th and 5th birthdays.. her 3rd birthday we kept just family as Karli was a newborn and medically fragile.
We have had only family for all of Karli's thus far since she is so young. Last year we celebrated in FL with the Grands and had a blast.
Karli's birthday is in 2 weeks. Our friend's dd turns 2 on the 2nd and her birthday party is on Karli's birthday this year. We asked Karli and she wants to go to Taylor's party since it is a pool party. So, our plans are to go to Tay's party, come home and clean up and then take Karli to get her ears pierced. ( she has been begging for months) Then, we are taking her out for dinner and headed home for cookie cake ( she has requested one) and presents.
Last year for Lilly's birthday, we surprised the girls with a night in Atlanta in a nice hotel, a very expensive dinner and then the GA aquarium. It was hilarious because I had packed overnight bags for us and we didn't tell them where we were going. We just said " ok, get in the car!". We headed up the interstate to Atlanta ( about 20 minutes away) and went to a hotel. That night, we took them to a Seafood place for dinner, got snacks, went swimming in the hotel pool, and went upstairs to open gifts. The next morning, we had breakfast, and then walked next door to the aquarium. They were so excited since they had never been there before. Lilly said it was the best birthday ever since it was just the 4 of us and packed with surprises.
We've decided to get away from parties as they just start to cost too much. This year, we'll probably let Lilly have 2 or 3 girls spend the night, but that will be the extent of the "party".
