A lot of you know that I'm a runner. I love to run. I have taken several weeks off due to some intense pain, and swelling in my left knee. I finally went to my Orthopedic and they sent me for an MRI to rule out a tear. Yesterday, he told me there is no tear and no evidence of anything that is causing the fluid buildup, swelling and pain in my knee. Since I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and have been in remission for many years, he thinks that I am having a flare up in my knee from all of my training the past few years. * sigh*...
So, at my appointment yesterday, he numbed it with spray, numbed it with a needle ( ouch!), then..he drained my knee ( I almost came off the table as it was draining) and I got a steroid shot in my knee... so, 3 needles in my knee..
He told me to sit down and relax yesterday and today. I hobbled around Walmart to pick up a few things right after my knee was drained, then came home, ate lunch, and then had to take Lilly to Karate for a stripe test. I told Heath there was no way I could make dinner since I could barely stand up so I picked something up on the way home.
This morning it felt okay, so I did some dishes and laundry, but now it is feeling icky again.. I have been sitting on my tush for hours and I am so bored I could scream!!! I have a load of laundry to fold, and I will make dinner later, but other than that, my house is still pretty darn clean from having the cameras here the other day...although, the kids have toys all over the place in here. I'm going to make them pick them up later though and then it will be presentable again.
I am tired of sitting on my hiney already and I'm going to be down all day today. He did give me the green light to start training again this weekend so that is a huge plus! I haven't run in weeks so I'm losing my mind. I am hoping that my knee will hold up so that I can run my half marathon in September, but I may have to put it off until the one in October instead.
The kids and I are still in our pjs, which is highly unusual for us at this time of day, but since I can't really move much.. I don't care. LOL ...
Oh, on a lighter note- when we went to the Ortho yesterday, the building got evacuated due to smoke. There were 3 huge fire trucks as well as the Chief's truck there while we stood outside for 45 minutes. Our friend that works there finally told me to go get my allergy shots and he would text me when they were in the building and if I needed to come back or they were rescheduling me. So, off I went down the street. I had 10 minutes until I could leave when he texted me and said " come back asap!"... back to the Ortho I went. Now, my original appt was at 8:45 am... I left there at 9:45, went to the allergist and got back to the Ortho at 10:25 am. The kids and I got home at 1 pm after leaving the house at 8:30 am yesterday! It was the longest day, but they thought it was a hoot when the fire trucks showed up. It turns out that the air conditioner in the doctor's office upstairs was burning out and it was filtering down to their office.
