Hi everyone I'm Emily I have not adopted yet but am looking to start the process of adopting my stepson in the spring. I hope this is the right group for me as I have no idea where to start. My husband has had custodey of his special need son his entire life. SS is 8 and his mother never has contact. I've been mommy to him for 6 years now I also have 2 boys one from a previous relationship and one with my dh. I would love for dh to adopt my son but his bio dad would start a shit fit.
Even though bmom has never had contact, you will still have to go to court either to terminate her parental rights or to have her relinquish. I'm sure your lawyer will walk you through everything this spring. Good luck, and please make yourself at home here!
Humm I would love to help, but dont know any thing about Step Parent adoption. I think you just need a attorney, and then things will go from there.

In 2011 we decided to adopt.
In 2012 we got to take home our Lady Bug
Now in 2013 we will finalize our adoption.
