help settle a debate... "love" vs "lover"

My BF (of over a year) texts me every morning "good morning kisses..." Sometimes he ends it with "my love" & other times "my lover"
To me they have a different meaning and feelings involved. He says they mean the same thing and he uses them interchangeably. So my question is.. what do other women think? Are the the same or do they mean different things?

I think they can be interchangeable, depending on the context. For example: A person that has had a one night stand may remember that partner as the best lover they have ever had. But, that doesn't mean they LOVE that person. In that instance they would not be interchangeable, but in your case....it would be.

I call SO both love and lover. I think they mean different things but both can be used with your partner. You are lovers, right?

I can see your point... I guess when I hear my love I think of "I love you" & the emotions that stirs in me.... yet my lover makes me smile but not the same feelings.

Not the same.  A "lover" does not mean someone who loves (although it should), it means someone who screws someone.  =)  "My love" is more endearing.

Lover, to me, means someone you're having an affair with/sleeping with, not someone you're in love with. I dunno if im the only one that views it that way.

I guess I think that if my boyfriend still considers me sexy enough to consider me his "lover" after this long, that's a good thing! Lol.

I think that is pretty close to how I think/thought too.
That's why I struggle with it even though I know he means both to be endearing.

To me they have different meanings.

Lover - is someone you are having sex with

My 'love' - is a pet name in my opinion

Sounds like you are his love and his lover... so why does it matter? lol Sure it CAN mean... love, the person u are in love with... lover... the person u physically show affection to... but at this point, over a year, I think him texting u every morning is sweet, regardless of the term love or lover.

I agree it is more of a good natured debate. I love that he texts me every day regardless
