Confession: I Want To Throw It Away!!!!!!

Throw away my wedding video, that is.

I actually divorced his manipulative arse almost 3 yrs ago (though been separated from him 5 yrs now).  Originally, I kep the video of our wedding for our daughter.  There are a few things that I kept for her.  A few photos, the vid, my old wedding ring and my gown.

She's been watching the vid a lot lately.  The more she watches it, the more disgusted I become.  Disgusted with myself for even being naive enough to marry him, let alone stay even when things were going to shit.  Disgusted with him for showing his true colors and being the manipulative douchebag that he was.  Nothing but hate towards him.

I remind myself that I was young and stupid and was in dire need of a proctologist to help pry my head from my backside.

I remind myself that I chose to keep this video for my daughter.

But damn it all if I won't get fed up one of these nights and toss it in the dumpster after she goes to bed.

Ok, feel better now.

How old is she? It might be better for you to throw away the vid. It could give her false hope of u 2 gettin back 2gether

What about packing it away for when she's older?

Aw, I'm sorry!

Try not to let this bother you too much.  I know you can look back and see all the problems, but maybe she gets some comfort knowing you and him were in love at one point?  How old is she?  Can you talk to her about your relationship from early on to the end?  I know when my parents FINALLY gave me their sides of the story after the divorce I felt a lot of comfort knowing how it all started, progressed, and ended.

My mil has kept all the photos from DH & his ex's wedding for their kids. It's ridiculous.

FTR, she was 3 when we split.  She's now 8.

I explained it all the best I could.  It's a tad complicated. He has a felony warrant for his arrest here where we live.  I simply told her that he made some bad choices and that was why we couldn't stay together anymore.

As much as I despise him, I've managed to keep my attitude neutral when talking about him with her.  And that is a feat, believe me.

put it away for a few years. She's already seen it so she doesn't need to KEEP watching it right?

I think it would be ok to say, "honey I know its fun to see your mom and dad but I would rather not have it playing here.  I saved it for you to watch one day when you are grown up.  Lets put it away and keep it safe."
