pee stinks. help

Posted by Anonymous   + Show Post

my pee stinks, and its really dark. its been like that for a while now BUT! i drink water all the time. i'm talking AT LEAST 2 liters a day of just plain water! i dont drink anything else (well, sometimes i have to get the flavored water sold at my job, if all the reg water is gone).

i do have micro albumin. can that be it? my doctor kinda sucks and didnt really explain what it is- and i've tried to google it... i know it means my kidney isnt retaining it and its going into my urine-- but i dont know what "it" is or how it affects me and my urine.

i have another doc appt- with an OBGYN in mid-feb, where i'll be asking questions and hopefully getting answers

i havent drank since i was 16... well, that was on the regular, every day, hard core liquor... after that- within the last 3 years, i've only drank about 3-4 times total in each year, but this past year (2011), i only drank once... havent touched a drink since nad i dont plan on drinking at all in my future.

would the er even take me, since its not so much an emergency?

I think u should go to an immediate care center or Emergency Room and have some bloodwork done. They need to do a CMP, or complete metabolic profile, and Liver Function Tests, of LFTs. These will show how your liver and kidneys are working. If they are abnormal u fan be referred to a specialist. An hA1c will show how well your blood sugar has been controlled. U may need to start some medicine to help control your blood sugar. High sugars can damage the tiny fragile ducts in the kidneys, as well as high blood pressure.
Personal question, do u drink alcohol? That can jack up your pressures, your blood sugars, damage liver and kidneys. Good luck, girl, I hope it all turns out ok for u.

Immediate care center would be better but it would take longer to get results from the bloodwork because they'd have to send it out to a lab. A hospital has a lab on site and can get results faster. The only problem there is that you would be triaged as a level 4, a non critical pt, so you'll prolly be there for a while. But, your health is not something to play with ya know.

I was going to say diabetes. Extreme thirst is a common symptom of diabetics, donut explains your water intake and your urine output.
