i want to know why some doctors are so stupid?

i went to the er by ambulance because i couldn't walk back pain was so bad. So what they did.. had me pee in a cup.... tell me I have a uti and send me home with pain medication...

They even said I had blood in my urine.. but they didn't check my kidneys or anything just took a fucking urine.

they told me not to do any heavy lifting for a while... and stay off work for a couple days... BUT they wouldn't give me a fucking note for work...

So now I have to work for the next 3 days in pain that is so fucking bad i want to curl up and cry. And i can't take my pain pills because i can't work using them and since the er dr didn't right me a note for work they don't give a shit how much pain i am in.

I sat there and told the fucking doctor i am a cna and i NEED a note for work if i have to be off work.

Also - Why do they always ask if there is a chance if you could be pregnant? I have finally decided to tell everyone. yes there is a chance as i am married and i enjoy having sex with my husband.

Why aren't more patients proactive and self-advocates?

Okay so the doctors you delt with are bullshit that is clear however, you OP made a mistake as well. You simply took the "advice" & left, even though you felt there was more wrong with you. You should have stayed, refused to leave, insisted to speak to another doctor, insister that they check you out more, ask more questions, etc.

Also what insurance do you have? Hate to say it but those on state insurance get treated like shit from doctors, not always but many don't give good treatment just because of that. You OP need to stand up for yourself. I do not say anything of this to insult you OP I say this because I'm telling you if you just roll over & let doctors walk all over you like that then you get what you got, no results.

My daughter was in the hosp when she was 8 days old for 14 days the nurses there stressed so much to us that we are in charge, ask questions, if we don't like a doctor request another etc. I have had to many many many times be forceful with doctors, I have refused to see certain doctors in clinics, I have gotten really mad at doctors, I have demanded things, etc. Its how you get results.

I hope you feel better OP.

Did you not ask questions OP? So the doctors gave you a urine test, you didn't ask what they were looking for at that point. They go ahead test it & give you results (that you didn't like) & you again did not ask questions. They ignore the pain in your back, you again did not ask questions. They tell you to go home again you did not ask questions. OP if you do not ask questions you do not get answers. You don't go into the ER or doctors office sit down, expect them to think of EVERYTHING (esp things going through YOUR mind) & aks NO questions then walk out all upset.

You had many oppertunties to ask questions, as all patients do EVERY time they go to visit a doctor anywhere. If you do not ask questions then whine about it later, I'm sorry I feel its the persons fault who did not ask questions.

and if they find blood in your urine they usually do a ct to make sure it isn't an infection in your kidneys?

or do they just go it is a uti and send you home?

Quoting raegansmom:

I get my kidneys checked every year.  They do it by me peeing in a cup.

I fucking asked why they said it was routine the doctor would tell me more. i ASKED what the fuck they found... they wasn't going to tell me otherwise

that is how i'm sitting here looking at MY results. I can see the fact i have a LARGE amount of blood in my urine.. and a very LARGE amount of baterica. I ASKED if it could be my kidneys.

I was TOLD that it is just a uti to go home. I was NOT in a fucking fighting mood. i have been sick i'm in fucking pain all i wanted to do was be able to SLEEP

Um excuses much? I understand you were in pain, fine however, if you didn't stand up for yourself reguardless then it's your fault, sorry but that is true. We can't expect doctors to seriously do everything, we can't expect every doctor we come in contact with to actually care, it is what it is. If you are in so much pain why didn't you go back to the ER?

I don't understand this, I really don't. You call the ambulance, go to the ER hunched over in pain, the doctors did what they did, you didn't ask any questions or say anything & you walked back out of the ER crying & hunched over still in pain?

I'm not trying to be mean here but if us patients or people who are not in the medical field do not stand up for ourselves doctors will continue to walk all over us. I was in the hospital with a newborn, my first child, 21years old, crying so bad because they were telling me she might have menigitis & they wanted to do a spinal tap, I spent 14 straight days in a small room NEVER left that room, I cried so much I was upset, I was tired, I was in pain, I still stood up & made sure what needed to get done was done period. I guess I juts don't take crap from others.

They didn't give you meds to kill the infection?

I am not one Of those people that Blindly follow doctors. They are human, the get lazy, they make mistakes and they don't know everything. I take what they say and make my own decisions. I do not always follow, in fact rarely.

Thank God not all doctors are like that. You just have bad luck and got the asshole, who probably assumed the blood in your urine was probably due to your period (and I guess he didn't bother asking). I hope you feel better.
