I just about scalped my 3 year old daughter. Literally. I'm nine months pregnant and in cleaning mode, getting ready for this baby. I was vacuuming while my daughter was coloring at the dining table. I was using the hose attatchment and the canister was behind me and I heard a horrible scream, looked down behind me and my daughter was on the floor with her hair stuck in the vacuum!!!!! I turned it off and was sure there was going to be a bloody scalp, because when I turned the brush on the vacuum, chunks of hair came out in my hand. There was a pretty big strand tangled in the brush, still attatched to her head, so I scrambled to find scissors and cut her free. Oh my god. There isn't even a red mark on her entire head. I can't believe she is okay. Thank god. I feel horrible. I'm surprised the fear didn't or hasn't sent me into labor. I didn't know the brush even turned when you used the hose. I am such an idiot. How am I going to handle a newborn and a three year old??? I am seriously doubting myself. She is napping now and I still can't settle down.

Oh my goodness!!! You'll do fine a couple days from now you'll look back and giggle. Can I ask how her head got so close to it in the first place? :)

Breathe. It will all be ok and you will do fine with a 3 yr old and a newborn.

Sometimes accidents happen.  Thankfully she is ok. It's not your fault.

I have no idea. I had just looked at her coloring at the table, it happened in a flash. I know that she likes the air that blows out of it and sometimes she will stand in front of it to feel the air and I have to tell her to go sit down until I finish. My only guess is that she wanted the air to blow in her face, so she snuck behind me and got right down in front of it.

Oh man, thank you guys. My heart beat is finally slowing down and I no longer feel like crying. I'm so embarassed, but thankful it didn't injure her. Your comments make me feel SO much better.

A vaccuum cannot cause that much damage. You did not almost scalp her.
