I bet I'm gonna get 20 emails tonight and tomorrow about students arguing against my harsh marking and critical feedback of their first in-class essays, even though it doesn't count toward their grade. It's meant to help them know where their weak points are so that they do better on future assignments that do count, but invariably there's a few in every class who will take it personally and even retort "UR PICKING ON ME BECUZ U DON'T AGREE WITH MY [POSITION/RELIGION/ARGUMENT/ANALYSIS/BELIEFS]!"
