Why do you (romantically) celebrate V-Day?

Got a grill, food, beer, fire pit, guitars, good weather, & most importantly friends. I'd say we got ourselves the makings of a fine picnic.

I confess I do not understand why people celebrate Valentine's Day.

if you do, why? I mean, I get it if you want to celebrate with your kids--it's fun--but with your SO? Why bother?

with my SO we just like to mark it as a day to do special things because day to day you can forget.  He is wonderful and brings me fresh flowers from his job, manager of a grocery store, and chocolates whenever, but this is a mark on the calendar where we do something extra.  Like a nice dinner.  Nothing crazy though and we hardly ever celebrat on v-day, usually whenever the next day he has off is.

We don't go all out on Valentines Day.

He usually gets me a card and some chocolates or stuffed animal. We have a nice dinner (sometimes we go out) and have awesome sex. Lol.

We don't really celebrate it. We might say happy valentines day but that's it. We did get gifts this year but dh got mine and his just because we got our tax returns and wanted something new so we called them our Valentine gifts lol

I love getting the flowers and the chocolate and a special gift, I mean what woman does not love to get surprises. He treats me awesome year round, but I think there is nothing wrong with a day he devotes to specifically spoiling our love!

We don't put that much importance on the day. I think that it's nice to spend time together and buy a little something for the person you love. We trade off every year and this year is mine. I bought us both a box of chocolates and I told him that I would like a card from him and for him to get me a card from the kids. We're going to go to dinner tomorrow night because I have a BOGO coupon at Cici's that expires tomorrow and he has class tonight. Tonight I'm going to make him twice baked potatoes because he loves them and I hardly ever do them. I'm not going to tell the kids it's Valentine's Day until tomorrow because I want him to be home to celebrate with them. The kids and I will make cupcakes tomorrow.
