What are your thoughts

I babysit two boys, 13&11, the 13 year old still carries around a blanket and sucks his thumb. What are your thoughts on this?
I cannot stand it but his mother still allows him to so I don't say anything to him bit it really makes me wanna puke whenever he does it.

My best friend in Elementary school had a pacifier, as far as I know, up until she went to middle school.  I think her and her 2 brothers were allowed to have them until they were older as well.  I thought it was always a little weird but to them it was normal.  That family has a lot of issues to say the least.  Not to mention they all had the same puckered mouth bcause of the long term pacifier use.  If i was their parents I would be worried about the dental bill but to each their own.

His mother told me that he needs braces so she paid for everything and they were one step away but because he wouldn't stop sucking his thumb that the dentist said their was no point in proceeding anymore.

Seems odd. Do you know their story? Maybe some traumatic happened to him when he was younger and that is his security item.

Hmm socially it may be an issue, but personally it's not harming him and it is not my child

I sucked my thumb until I was about 21. I started after I was molested when I was 11. There may be an issue you don't know about, so I wouldn't judge... If it bothers you that bad, don't babysit them anymore.
