I saw on fb last night one of the people I know is going back to school. I know she gets grants for schooling cause she is low income. She has already been to school once on the gov's dime and now she wants to go back. Now I could understand if it was to get an upgrade like from lpn to nurse or nurse to np or something along those lines. But no, its from cosmetology to nursing!

Yes I understand that you want to better yourself, but to just keep going back to school and getting grant money and never settling in a career is just nuts to me. My dh makes to much money for me to go back to school, and I can't get a decent job cause I decided to sah with my kids for so many years, and don't have training. Yet others who have already been to school can still get more money to go back when they didn't work 6 months in the profession they just got a grant for! It really ticks me off! Get of fs and pa and work the job you trained for put some money back and let someone else have a f*ing chance ya know.

I guess it just pisses me off, anyone else?

Yea how dare she change what she wants to do for the rest of her life and the potential to make more money. What a crazy bitch I hate single moms who try to better themselves.

She isn't a single mom, she is married has two kids and lives with her mom and dad, while her dh works at a drs office as a Physicians Assitant! They drive brand new cars, and are building a house under her parents name on her parents property so they don't have to show they own property!

not everyone is happy in the job they thought they would be. I care less about what everyone else is doing I have my own family to worry about.

There are caps on how much, how long you can get grants. Obviously she hasn't used it all up if she is still able to receive more.I don't see how her going to school keeps someone else from going.

Have you ever done something and realized you didn't like it or it wasn't for you?

You can go to college, you're just using "My hubby makes to much" as an excuse. Ever heard of scholarships, student loans? If you really wanted to go that bad, you would find a way.

I don't see how they would qualify then. And that is very messed up it's for people who actually need it.

Yeah it pisses me off but only because I'm jealous. As long as there are no restrictions and she qualifies, then no harm done. Nothing we can do about it

How many grants are available to people? As far as I know the pell grant is the only one, it doesn't have to be repaid. Any other money this person (or anyone gets) are government loans. They need to be repaid. So, the way I look at it, if someone is happy with continuing putting theirself in debt...have at it.

i used student loans and pell grants to get my bachelors degree we were low income then. my dh makes way too much money for me to ever qualify for a grant again but i dont care because that means that we are in a good place. i am going back to school in a year and a half to get my paralegal certificate it costs about $5000 i wont be eligible for help but that is no excuse. we will either save up the cash or i will get a loan and pay it back when i start working.

i dont have a problem with people who are indecisive about their career choice. i have been too. i never have a problem with someone doing something with their life. and to me, pell grants are the best federal assistance we could give away because they allow people to move up in their lives and that is what we want isnt it?

I am finding my own way, I just think its shit that someone can go to school for 2-3 different things on the gov's dime until they decide what they want to do! Shouldn't you know if you are that old what you want! Sure some don't like thier job, lots in fact, doesn't mean they don't just go ahead and work it so that they can have income instead of living off the gov! I mean is it necassary for someone to continue to go back to school over and over while recieving food stamps and pa just cause they don't want to work what they signed up for?!?!?
