Being a mom to an anorexic kid....
is hard.
My daughter is 16 and battles with anorexia. She doesn't tell anyone. She didn't even tell me until I started to notice and wouldn't believe her lies anymore.
Her best friend(we'll call her jess) is curvy. She's not fat but she's a bit bigger than average. Well Jess came over and was sitting in the living room waiting for my DD to get out of the bath. My daughter was talking to us and said she is going to stop taking baths because it hurts her bones. Jess was annoyed with my daughter because she was complaining and no one should complain about being skinny.
My DD also told me that whenever she mentions her spine hurting her(from the back of the chair) or in the gym room when she says how she doesn't like how her hip and collar bones are so out there, Jess gets mad. It hurts my daughter's feelings. She tells her bestfriend almost everything and I know she would like to talk to her about her anorexia but with Jess shooting down all her mentions of her weight, I know she will never tell her :(
That is sad momma, will she get help?? Maybe there is a support group she can make friends with.

We are in the process of finding her a new therapist. Her old one was horrible. She talked to her like she was a little kid and my DD did not like it at all.

Wow.. that must be hard! May I ask how long has your child been anorexic, and is she in therapy?
We are in the process of getting her into therapy. And she told me she's had the thoughts in her head since she was 14 but just started doing something about it in August.
This Jess girl sounds kind of mean, I think your daughter should mention something to her. If she is a real friend she will understand and try to me a little more supportive.

She is a nice girl and has good intentions but she is almost too "real" with my daughter. I don't think she realizes my daughter is trying to talk to her about this problem, she just sees it as my daughter being ungrateful of her body I guess. If my daughter told her, I'd sure she would be more supportive but I know my DD isn't going to tell her.

I have ato 13 year old daughter and I can't imagine how hard that must be! *hugs* Moma, many times we are faced with saving our children from themselves! Please seek a treatment center for your daughter and hopefully you will find the reason that led to her anorexia! BEST WISHES!

I hope DD can gain the courage, sometimes it is better to get everything off of your chest. I had an issue when I was a teenager where my friends were telling me how great my boyfriend was and how they wish theirs would treat them like mine did me, but little did they know I was being sexually and physically abused by this guy that was SOO GREAT. Once I came out and told one of my friends it was like a weight had lifted off my shoulders and I could finally move on with my life and get the help I needed
