If you were told that the baby you were carrying definitely had Down Syndrome would you abort? BTW I am not pregnant but a friend was told last week that her baby might have this. She is conflicted about what to do.

This is not a troll post!!! I am not posting to create drama, just wanting opinions or stories based on personal experience in this situation.

UPDATE: My friend has decided after some thought that she would rather not do any more testing. She is already so in love with this baby that she will keep him/her and will accept any challenges that lie ahead. I haven't yet read all the replies but she and I are going to see one another tomorrow and we will read them together. I want to say thanks to all of you who posted very honest opinions and stories of your own.

To all of you who were so kind in sharing I just wanted to let you know about a new article in this weeks Entertainment Weekly. It has Billy Crystal on the front. Pages 48-54 are all about people with DS who are actors in Hollywood. I was unaware of these actors but this is a positive sign that DS does not have to be looked on as a indicator of a lesser lived life. I am sharing this with my friend and wanted to share it with all of you who have these special people in your lives.

I was told he would be downs and was ready to abort further testing showed he was not. I would have had a late term abortion . I was almost 20 weeks

her baby "might" have it? what test(s) have they done? amnio's are very accurate. if she's considering terminating the pregnancy, she should be damn sure.

my dh and i had to go through this with our last pregnancy. i had high markers due to my age and so we had the amnio done and i had to wait 10 days for the results. longest ten days of my life. dh wanted to terminate. i didn't. i'm REALLY glad that dd was fine and we didn't have to decide.

I'm not really sure of the testing. When she called me she was crying so hard her SO had to tell me what she was saying. We are going to see each other Friday so I kinda wanted some "expert" opinions from the real world.

if I had undergone an amnio and knew 100% that the baby had down syndrome I would at least consider it.  Not sure if I would go through with it but the thought would cross my mind...

..guesswho..
