Coffee Shop Confessions: Do you secretly enjoy going away on business trips?

Posted by   + Show Post

I LOVE Going Away on Business Trips!

Is it true for you?  Do you love going away for business?

This mom loves (LOVES!) going away on business trips and leaving her kids at home. She gets to stretch out on the hotel bed, enjoy her morning coffee in peace, and never has to watch cartoons! But, should she feel guilty for relishing her "me time?"

What is your favorite thing about going away on business?

Do you feel guilty for enjoying time away from your family?

I never felt guilty in the least.  When my son was 3-4 years old, my job changed to where I was traveling for a week (minimum) every month.  I LOVED it.  Took me years to realize I really didn't like the preschool years!  Now, it's "my" business, so it's a bit different (I pay), but still - I love it.  I love to travel, with or without other people.  I never once missed my family!

i will have to admit that the process before is tiring making sure the family has everything they need and such, but the relief is awesome. sure it can be a Little lonely but just the thought of going on a trip and not having to deal with all the extras and only having to say pay for just myself to eat and have a low bill as aposed to the whole family is a great plus not to mention that everything will become a write off later..Bonus! Last time i went was to Las Vegas and even though i had alot of down time during the evenings i ended up spending my first night sitting on my bed with the heat kicked up eating a hot pocket lol.

I miss my family, but when you're working and networking with people who do what you do, it isn't constant. I missed my kids more when my sister and I went on a kidless vacation together one year.

For the moms who go on business trips, what exactly do you do on the trips, work wise? I mean what do you do, that requires you to travel?

I'm not trying to be rude or sarcastic, I'm just genuinely curious.

I've never had a job that requires travel nor has my husband, and we both grew up in blue collar families, so I guess it's just a foreign concept to me.

I have to admit though, that I am a little jealous
though of the moms who get to travel for work, and visit tons of new cities or countries, on their employer's dime!

my job does not include buiness trips BUT I do enjoy going down to foxwoods ( casino) for a night every couple months!! I get a free complimentry room cuz i go enough and even if I do not have alot of money to gamble I still go down just to enjoy one night of quiet and a king size bed all to myself!! The next morning I am ready to go home I miss my DD and DH but that whole day and Night is so worth it and a good to recharge your batteries!!

Yes I do. I love my kids and husband, I miss them terribly while I'm gone but it's the only time I really get to pamper myself. My husband goes on business trips too and he loves it just as much as I do. Just like I know my kids miss me while I'm gone but DH hates being in the house when I'm not around (I personally think he just hates having to do all the cooking and cleaning by himself) so while I'm gone they spend a lot of time going out and visiting friends/family and they go out to lunch and dinner at least twice while I'm gone - when they don't go out they usually got to my parents or in laws to eat and of course both sets of grandparents spoil the shit out of them so they enjoy that.

When I had to do it, I HATED it., but I didn't have any kids, so, I guess that might change things...

I might enjoy it now that I am a mom, except I am a SAHM so no more business trips for me. I can see how it would be appealing, though. We had nice dinners, hotel rooms, drinks, on all the company. Plus, just to have conversations with other adults...
