A friend's ds was put on adderall for adhd about 9 months ago. I have always thought he acts like a typical little boy. He has stayed the night with my ds many times since he started the medication. I can see a huge difference about 30 minutes after he takes the meds. He is almost in another world, no energy, and basically a little zombie. She says it has helped with his behavior (again I think he was acting like a typical 4 yr. old) I think he has lost all of his personality and seems out of it most of the time. She is convinced my ds has adhd and needs medication. I understand there are children who truly need medication for add/adhd but I also think it is way over diagnosed. I honestly believe she medicates her ds because it makes him easier to handle. What are your thoughts about giving such a young child these meds?
